Kolkata already has many entertainment and dining options, be it the best of malls, multiplexes, restaurants or pubs. In 2016, many more fun zones are going to be added. Here is a list of some of the things that bode more exciting times.

A sky bar spread across 6,000 sq ft on the sixth floor
A 6,000 sq ft multipurpose venue for high-quality exhibitions
Brands like Inc 5, Premiere and DC Shoes, an American footwear company, will set up shop
Stores by W and Kama Ayurveda
Hoppipola, an all-day bar
South Africa-based casual dining chain Barcelos, known for its Portuguese meals
Brands such as Allen Solly Junior, Samsonite, Go Colors, Gini & Jony and Cookie Man
Mandola, which serves Punjabi dhaba food in the car park, will open at City Centre, Salt Lake and City Centre II, New Town.

STANDALONE RESTAURANTS AND PUBS
Dev's Tolly Tales, a 70-seater restaurant spread over 2,500 sq ft, will open off Sarat Bose Road. The interiors are done up with Tolly posters from the 1930s to Chander Pahar. A wall is dedicated to Charlie Chaplin and Satyajit Ray. The resto-lounge will serve Continental, Chinese and Indian cuisine.
Biryani and chaap veteran Royal Indian Hotel will open a G+2, 200-cover outlet opposite Quest Mall.
The Grid, a microbrewery across 10,000 sq ft, will open in Topsia. More microbreweries are expected to follow the lead.
North Kolkata seems to be the new destination for established chains. Khandani Rajdhani is scheduled to make an appearance in north Kolkata and 6 Ballygunge Place in the Sealdah-Kankurgachhi area.
A south Indian restaurant called Cauvery on Nei Baidhya in south Kolkata.
A taste of lesser-known cuisines like Latin American, Spanish and Turkish will be available at an all-day dining restaurant by Urvika Kanoi (of The Food Studio) and Aakash Jaiswal in south Calcutta.
Orient will open at The Conclave.
Jhaal Farezi will be revamped with an open mixology bar, which will experiment with molecular cocktails.
At least one more Spencer's outlet will open soon.
The Bikers Cafe will open a 120-cover outlet with a 40-ft-long bar and multi-lounge options in Sector V.
Chinese chain Chowman will open at Shyambazar.
Wow! Momo will open outlets at the airport, Garia crossing, Ultadanga and at Forum Rangoli Mall in Liluah. Also, two Wow! Momo delivery outlets will open at Howrah AC Market and opposite Ice Skating Rink in Ballygunge.
Club Boudoir, a franchise of the Dubai nightclub, will open on Shakespeare Sarani. The operations will be managed by PDK Shenaz Hotels, the company behind Shisha Bar Stock Exchange.
What's In a Name, a 7,000 sq ft pub with an open-air zone and focus on live music, will open on Camac Street.

INOX has plans to open a four-screen multiplex at Pravesh Mall in Liluah.
PVR is set to expand its footprint, from Barasat to Alipore to Behala.

The Westin in Rajarhat – a project by Shristi Hotel, an arm of Shristi Infrastructure Development Corporation, and global hospitality major, Westin Hotels & Resorts – is expected to open with 323 guest rooms and suites and nine individual function rooms, including two ballrooms.
JW Marriott, on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, is also expected to open doors this year.
HB1, the 49-suite heritage block of The Lalit Great Eastern, is set to open too.
At Novotel Kolkata Hotel and Residences, The Grand Ballroom will open on the first floor.
The city is likely to be introduced to drag-racing with a three-day meet planned at the Behala airstrip from January 29 to 31. Drag racing is a recognised international motor racing format in which automobiles and motorcycles (sometimes specially built for the purpose) compete usually two or one at a time to be the first to reach the finishing line. Some offroading events, auto shows and rock concerts are being planned as part of the event.
