Science City is set to host a seven-day event that will showcase German support for international networking for science, technology and research collaborations.
Tagged as "Excellence on Tour,” the event is being jointly organised by the New Delhi based German House for Research and Innovation along with the German Government. The event has been designed and set in a multi-functional pavilion, created by the internationally renowned German artiste Markus Heinsdorff. 'Excellence on tour', organised in association with the Consulate General of Federal Republic of Germany and Max Mueller Bhavan will be inaugurated on 22 March in Science City at 5 p.m.
The event will conclude on 28 March.
The workshops and lectures will focus on various themes such as toy technology, cancer biology, isolation of DNA, natural products, role of antibiotics among several others.
Besides, German institutes will conduct exhibitions, scientific and hands-on workshops, lectures, symposia, quizzes and a science slam.
Students can take part in different activities at the event. The top performer of the young scientists' science slam will win a trip to Germany.
The director of IISER in the city, Professor Dr R N Mukherjee, the German Consul General Rainer Schmiedchen, the vice-president of the German Research Foundation (DFG), Professor Dr Dorothea Wagner, the director of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research are among the host of dignitaries who have consented to grace the occasion.
The programme will include various cultural events conducted in association with Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata.
A very good effort by the German govt to promote the excellent expertise that Germany is home to in the fields of science and technology.
