Described as the ‘Queen of Park Street’, Flurys has been sitting itself pretty since 1927 on one of the busiest streets of Kolkata. Setting a benchmark for confectionaries around the country, Flurys is a house of irresistible, impeccable mouth-watering delicacies, luring in even those most mindful of their health. Be it the famous and iconic breakfast in the tearoom, delectable portions of bread or the single origin chocolates, Flurys has something for every taste bud.
Open from 7 am to 10 pm on all days, Flurys has seen faces from all over the world. Boasting of featuring in every form of news, the confectionary has bagged several awards for not only its creamy butter-and-chocolate desserts but also for the contemporary European setting, giving a warm feeling to guests spending quality time with their loved ones there.
Incredibly popular on holidays, both amongst locals and tourists, you’ll definitely be waiting for over an hour to seat yourself at this sweet haven. It would be a sin not to sin by indulging yourself in scrumptious helpings in this café. Even with the fresh new interiors, its vintage atmosphere will transcend you into a different time zone, making it a perfect and serene place to unwind after a long day.
Trying to keep this unique flavour popular and reach all possible multitudes, Flurys has come up with confectionaries at Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad and has 13 more venues in the pipeline. But what excites us the most is the introduction of this café at the Kolkata International Airport’s food court. A delight to fliers now, all they need is to delve into a rum ball for that sugar rush right before the flight. Terminal 2 sees the confectionary in pink, all adorned to greet fliers to its sweetness and delicacies. The food court has been operational since the beginning of this year and will see other food brands like Irish House, Curry Kitchen, Noodle Wok, Idli.com and the likes soon.
Flooding in as soon as the shop became functional on Monday, June 24, fliers huddled around to pick up goodies for friends and family waiting for them at their destinations, wanting them to pamper themselves to some Kolkata-famous confects.
A Delhi resident was lucky to walk in when the store had just opened and purchased several packs of chocolates. "I had some time at hand and was walking about the terminal when I was pleasantly surprised to spot the Flurys store. It's a name that I am familiar with since childhood. While visiting Kolkata, I would be taken to the store in Park Street and loved it. Unfortunately, when I visit the city on work, there isn't enough time to drop by at the store. Having a Flurys at the airport makes it so convenient," she pointed out.
An ideal and much needed place added to the airport amenities makes life more suited and delightful for fliers in and out of the ‘City of Joy’.
