Kolkata airport, which has turned into one of the best in the country, last month pushed its star quotient a few notches up with the opening of a fine-dining restaurant, a watering hole and a travel club. With quick service restaurants, patisseries shops, coffee shops and pubs already offering a bouquet of services, gastronomes are sure to be spoilt for choices when they fly in and out of city.
Fine dining restaurant
Copper Chimney , a fine-dining restaurant brand already present in Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Kuwait, opened its first airport concept `Copper Chimney Grill' with an exotic menu concept tailored specially for the modern traveler. The restaurant is located at the mezzanine level of the departure section of the airport's domestic wing.
Also at the domestic departure mezzanine level is the new all-day pub and café `The Irish House'. Serving a wide range of beers and spirits, the ambiance of `The Irish House' captures the spirit of traditional public houses in Ireland and emulates that same welcoming feel.

The rustic décor is enhanced with famous quotes and quirky messages that are plastered across the place and even on staff T-shirts. Signature items include the Fish & Chips, hearty burgers and Grande Fries. It is the ideal place to catch a sports game while enjoying fresh draught beer served in wooden kegs. An energetic team, great music and a superlative ambiance promises to make the experience unforgettable for the traveler.
The mezzanine level also houses the new business class and executive lounge spread across nearly 2,500 sq ft. With a bar, continental and Indian food options and seats for 110 passengers, the lounge has become an instant hit with passengers.
Taste of Kolkata
Flurys, the legendary Park Street tea room that is on an expansion spree and opened its first outlet at the food court in the domestic wing of the airport departure area, is bracing up to open a kiosk in the international departure lounge. Doing nearly 250 bills a day, the city's heritage brand is also planning to introduce a range of breakfast options from next week following popular demand from passengers.
While Flurys is famous for its teas and coffees, there are other beverage options at the airport including Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Coffee & More, Cafe Coffee Day , Cafe Day Express, Cafeccino, Coffee Box and Banyan Cafe. These cafes also offer snacking options as do Idli.com, Wow Momo, Flying Bite and Swich.
For more substantial meals, there's Biryani Bhai, Curry Kitchen and Noodle Wok while alcohol options include Ultra Bar and ABC Bar. For those with a sweet tooth, Flurys has a range of pastries to offer while there's Ganguram and Haldiram for traditional sweets.
