Bengali Wikipedians can catch a glimpse of the two-day convention at the Jadavpur University campus on 9 and 10 January.
Not just the residents of Jadavpur, Wikipedia contributors from India as well as Bangladesh will meet at this conference to develop content in Bengali language.
The conference, organised in association with the School of Linguistic Studies, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Jadavpur University, will mark the 10th anniversary of the Bengali Wikimedia community. As a part of the conference, participants can take part in discussions, essay writing, photography competitions and photo walks.
Available at www.bn.wikipedia.org, the Bengali edition has over 35,000 articles in the regional language, but out of its 450 active contributors.
Around 17 Wikipedia contributors are coming from Bangladesh while another 22 delegates would be from India. The delegates will be conducting workshops and lectures for students on how to type, edit in Bengali, upload image in Wikimedia and other ways to contribute to Bengali Wiktionary.
One of the most unique features of the conference, would be mass editing where a large group will work on articles related to West Bengal together.
